Preliminary Announcement
Esprit Working Group RAND2
Randomized Approximation Algorithms
Saturday 20th - Monday 22nd September, 1997

A meeting under the aegis of EC Esprit WG RAND2 will take place from
Saturday 20th September to Monday 22nd September 1997 at the University
of Leeds. The theme of the meeting will be "Randomized Approximation
Algorithms".
In addition to contributed papers, the following speakers have been invited:
Sanjeev Arora (Princeton), Alan Frieze (Carnegie Mellon),
David Karger (MIT).
Accommodation and meetings will take place in Fairbairn
House, a University conference facility. The full cost of accommodation
and registration to participants will be (for applications received
before 31st July):

For applications received after 31st July, a late booking fee of
£20 will be payable. In any case the quantity of accommodation of
each type is limited, so early booking is advisable. However,
it may also be possible to arrange hotel accommodation locally if this
is desired or proves necessary. There are various hotel types nearby.
The University is situated in the city of Leeds, which has the usual
civic amenities and is within easy reach of the Yorkshire Dales, some
of the finest countryside in England. It has a regional airport, as well
as good rail and road connections to London and other parts of the country.
